TWO ways to register

 

Programs for our younger (K-5) athletes and for adults are Vancouver Recreation programs run through the City of Vancouver.
Other programs (including Advanced KOS) are run independently. As a result, registration processes differ by group.

All Exceleration Athletes require an Exceleration Membership prior to participating. This Membership makes it possible for us to communicate with athletes/families directly so, for example, we can let you know that practice is cancelled because of snow or remind athletes about special events.  For more information please visit our Membership Page 

Adventure Tri (Pre-K – Grade 1)

Choose from classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and/or Saturday mornings.

  • A fun, movement-based group where energetic youngsters will learn fundamental movement skills in swimming, cycling, and running.
  • Learn physical literacy through games, activities, and cooperative challenges.
  • Focus on caring for others, developing basic respect and the spirit of sport.

All of our classes include swimming, cycling and running.

Must be able to swim 5 metres unassisted and be able to tread water 10+ seconds. There will be a swim test the first week of the session and if athletes are unable to meet the minimum requirements, they will be removed from the swimming portion of the program.

Needs helmet manufactured within the last 5 years and a working bike.

Kids of Steel (Grades 2-5)

Choose from classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and/or Saturday mornings.

  • Action-packed experience for children who love challenge, adventure, and sport.
  • Sport-specific technical skills in swimming, cycling, and running.
  • Overall sport skill development through games and team sports.
  • Introduction to basic core and fitness training.
  • Fun with friends.
  • Personal-social responsibility and positive behavior in a sports setting.
  • Must have passed Swimmer 3; or in Last Level of Pre-School; or able to swim 15m without support and tread water in the deep end. There will be a swim test the first week of the session and if athletes are unable to meet the minimum requirements, they will be removed from the swimming portion of the program.
  • Needs a helmet manufactured in the last 5 years and a working bike.

Adult Swimming

Sessions are Saturday mornings.

  • Adults focus on fitness, health, and developing skills with the help of swim and triathlon coaches.
  • Parents can swim on Saturdays at the same time as their kids: convenient & inspiring.

Adult Running

Sessions are Saturday mornings.

  • Adults focus on fitness, health and developing skills.

Advanced Kids of Steel® (Grades 4-5)

Athletes train up to three days each week. 

Action-packed experience for children who love challenge, adventure, and sport three (3) times each week.

  • Sport-specific technical skills in swimming, cycling, and running.
  • Overall sport skill development through games and team sports.
  • Introduction to basic core and fitness training.
  • Fun with friends.
  • Personal-social responsibility and positive behavior in a sport setting.

Advanced Youth of Steel (Grades 6-7)

Athletes train up to four days each week. 

  • Learn to train and compete with a focus on overall fitness four (4) times each week.
  • Emphasis on learning to train (warm-up, cool down, volume, intensity)
    • Advanced triathlon skills.
    • Building self-awareness, personal responsibility, and athlete autonomy.
    • Continued focus on the spirit of sport and positive behavior in a team setting.

Our Monday, Friday and Saturday sessions all include swimming, biking, and running. The Wednesday session is outdoors only and does not include swimming. Please note, that we will stop cycling in the evenings around November 1st as it starts to get too dark. Our Saturday sessions will have cycling all year.

Online Registration Through Amilia

Grades 6 And Up

We offer year-round training for fitness or competition. Our flexible registration allows athletes to customize their training so they can still participate in other sports.

Youth of Steel (Grades 6-7)

Choose from classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and/or Saturday mornings.

  • Learn to train and compete with a focus on overall fitness.
  • Emphasis on learning to train (warm-up, cool down, volume, intensity).
  • Advanced triathlon skills.
  • Building self-awareness, personal responsibility, and athlete autonomy.
  • Continued focus on the spirit of sport and positive behavior in a team setting.

Special Program Friends and Fitness (Grades 6-12)

Classes are Friday evenings.

Fitness with friends in a low intensity group setting. Focus on fun:

  • Triathlon skills – swim, bike, run and transitions.
  • Games and activities.
  • Building self-awareness, personal responsibility and athlete autonomy.
  • Continued focus on the spirit of sport and positive behavior in a team setting.

Youth (Grades 8-10)

Training will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Athletes can register for 1- 5 days of training each week. We offer discounts for athletes who register for multiple practices.

Our youth program includes:

  • Learning to Train and Training to Train stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Framework developed by Canadian Sport for Life.
  • Learning to Perform and Building to Perform Development.
  • Sampling and focusing on Triathlon.
  • Learning Life management and mental skills.
  • Beginning to Advanced Technical Skills (Swim, Bike, Run, Transitions).

Each practice will have different sets for different abilities: Beginning, Developing, and Advanced Workouts and Skills.

  • You can train with your friends while getting an individualized program.
  • Our Youth and Senior groups mostly train together, with the older athletes mentoring the younger athletes.
  • We offer discounts for athletes who register for multiple practices.

Suggestions for the number of practices each week:

  • 1-2 Practices a week: Sampling Triathlon with a focus on Fitness.
  • 3-4 Practices a week: Focusing on Triathlon with focus on Fitness (only doing triathlon) or Competition (doing other sports as well).
  • 5-6 Practices a week: Focusing on Triathlon with a focus on Competition.
  • 6+ Practices a week: Specializing in Triathlon with a focus on Competition.

Junior (Grades 11-12+)
