When you think about what makes a neighbourhood strong—really strong—it’s not just the parks or the sidewalks or the skyline. It’s the people that show up and the places and organizations that dig in, day in and day out, to support everyone who calls that place home. For East Van, one of those pillars is the Hastings Community Association.
We’re thrilled to welcome Hastings Community Association as a sponsor of this year’s Tri-it Triathlon. Support like this helps us continue offering a race experience that’s fun and inspiring, AND accessible to as many families as possible—something we know they care deeply about, too.
Together with the Vancouver Park Board, the Hastings Community Association jointly operates Hastings Community Centre. Since 1934, the HCA has been delivering low-cost, inclusive, and wide-ranging programs to residents of all ages. From early childhood care to seniors’ fitness classes, language programs to after-school clubs, their offerings reflect the true diversity and vibrancy of East Van. More than a community centre, Hastings is a hub for connection, support, and empowerment.
The commitment of their board, staff, and volunteers to equity and wellness shines through in everything they do. Whether it’s subsidized programs, cultural events, or just a welcoming place to gather, Hastings has always put people first. That’s part of what makes their sponsorship of our grassroots youth triathlon feel so right—it’s another way they invest in the health and joy of their community.
We’re grateful to have their backing, and we’re even prouder to help continue a tradition of inclusive programming that puts kids, families, and wellbeing at the centre.
Thank you, Hastings Community Association, for being part of this journey. You’re not just helping us run a race—you’re helping us build a stronger, more connected East Van.
