Program Descriptions

It’s so much more than sport too – swimming, biking, running, winning, losing, working, trying, learning, and respecting are all life skills.”
All programs run on multiple days.
Please carefully consider your schedule before registering, to ensure you can attend all the sessions you book. We do not refund fees for missed sessions.
Adventure Tri (Pre-K – Grade 1)

Athletes attend 1 x per week, the same night each week. Choose a practice on Monday, Wednesday or Friday evenings or Saturday mornings.
Practices are 1.5 hours, beginning at 5:00 weeknights and 09:00 on Saturday in Fall and Winter, with 2 practices each active day during our Spring session, with 4:30, and 6:00 start times, 09:00 and 10:30 on Saturdays.
- A fun, movement-based group where energetic youngsters will learn fundamental movement skills in swimming, cycling, and running.
- Learn physical literacy through games, activities, and cooperative challenges.
- Focus on caring for others, developing basic respect and the spirit of sport.
All of our classes include swimming, cycling* and running.
Must be able to swim 25 metres unassisted (pool noodle ok), 12.5 metres with no floatation, and be able to tread water 30 seconds.
There will be a swim assessments before the beginning of the session to participate in the aquatic portion of practice.
If your athlete does not meet the minimum requirement for pool time, we will be focusing on dry land physical literacy.
Needs a helmet manufactured within the last 5 years and a working bike.
*For safety reasons cycling ends around Hallowe’en and resumes with our Spring session, with the return of the light.
Kids of Steel (Grades 2-5)

Athletes attend 1 x per week, the same night each week. Choose a practice on Monday, Wednesday or Friday evenings or Saturday mornings.

- Introduction to basic core and fitness training.
- Fun with friends.
- Personal-social responsibility and positive behavior in a sports setting.
- Must have passed Swimmer 3; or in Last Level of Pre-School; or able to swim 25m without support (pool noodle ok) and tread water in the deep end.
- There will be a swim assessments prior to the start of the session. If athletes are unable to meet the minimum requirements, they will be unable to take part in the aquatic portion of practices, but will be engaged in improving physical literacy on dry land.
- Needs a helmet manufactured in the last 5 years and a working bike.

Advanced Kids of Steel® (Grades 4-5)

2 hour practices are held Mon & Wed, 2.5 hours Fri and Sat. 4:30 start M-W-F, 09:00 on Sat. Athletes can train up to three days each week.*
Action-packed experience for children who love challenge, adventure, and sport three (3) times each week.
- Sport-specific technical skills in swimming, cycling**, and running.
- Overall sport skill development through games and team sports.
- Introduction to basic core and fitness training.
- Fun with friends.
- Personal-social responsibility and positive behavior in a sport setting.
- Must have passed Swim Kids 3; or in Last Level of Pre-School; or able to swim 25m without support and tread water in the deep end.
- Needs a helmet manufactured in the last 5 years and a working bike.
- All abilities welcome.
*Additional days are an additional cost. Yearly registration is recommended for discounted fees.
**Please note, that we will stop cycling in the evenings around November 1st as it starts to get too dark, and resume cycling for our Spring session. Our Saturday sessions will have cycling all year.
Youth of Steel (Grades 6-7)

2 hour practices are held Mon & Wed, 2.5 hours Fri and Sat. 4:30 start M-W-F, 09:00 on Sat. Athletes can train up to 4 days each week.*
- All practices include swimming, cycling* and running
- Learn to train and compete with a focus on overall fitness four (4) times each week.
- Emphasis on learning to train (warm-up, cool down, volume, intensity)
- Advanced triathlon skills.
- Building self-awareness, personal responsibility, and athlete autonomy.
- Continued focus on the spirit of sport and positive behavior in a team setting.
*Additional days are an additional cost. Yearly registration is recommended for discounted fees.

Friends and Fitness (Grades 6-12)

Classes are Friday evenings.
Fitness with friends in a low intensity group setting. Focus on fun:
- Triathlon skills – swim, bike, run and transitions.
- Games and activities.
- Building self-awareness, personal responsibility and athlete autonomy.
- Continued focus on the spirit of sport and positive behavior in a team setting.
Youth (Grades 8-10)
Training will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Athletes can register for 1- 5 days of training each week. We offer discounts for athletes who register for multiple practices.
Our youth program includes:
- Learning to Train and Training to Train stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Framework developed by Canadian Sport for Life.
- Learning to Perform and Building to Perform Development.
- Sampling and focusing on Triathlon.
- Learning Life management and mental skills.
- Beginning to Advanced Technical Skills (Swim, Bike, Run, Transitions).
Each practice will have different sets for different abilities: Beginning, Developing, and Advanced Workouts and Skills.
- You can train with your friends while getting an individualized program.
- Our Youth and Senior groups mostly train together, with the older athletes mentoring the younger athletes.
- We offer discounts for athletes who register for multiple practices.
Suggestions for the number of practices each week:
- 1-2 Practices a week: Sampling Triathlon with a focus on Fitness.
- 3-4 Practices a week: Focusing on Triathlon with focus on Fitness (only doing triathlon) or Competition (doing other sports as well).

- 6+ Practices a week: Specializing in Triathlon with a focus on Competition.
Junior (Grades 11-12+)

Training will run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and focused swim session on Sundays. Athletes can register for 1- 6 days of training each week. We offer discounts for athletes who register for multiple practices.
Our Senior group focuses on the Training to Train and Training to Compete stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Framework developed by Canadian Sport for Life.
- Learning to Perform and Building to Perform Development.
- Sampling, Focusing, and Specializing in Triathlon.
- Learning life management, mental, and self-starter skills.
- Beginning to Advanced Technical Skills (Swim, Bike, Run, Transition).

Adult Swimming

Sessions are Saturday mornings.
- Adults focus on fitness, health, and developing skills with the help of swim and triathlon coaches.
- We have a special dry land Adventure Tri program running concurrently for ages 3-7, to help parents arrange their mornings!
Adult Running
Sessions are Saturday mornings.
- Adults focus on fitness, health and developing skills.
Exceleration Membership is mandatory prior to participating. Luckily, it’s free and easy to obtain!
This Membership makes it possible for us to communicate with athletes/families directly so, for example, we can let you know that practice is cancelled because of snow or remind athletes about special events. For more information please visit our Membership Page.
ALL ATHLETES must meet minimum swim requirements to take part in the aquatic portion of practice:
1) Swim 25 metres (use of pool noodle ok)
2) Self-save: 12.5m or a half-length (swim unassisted; any technique)
3) Tread water for 30 seconds
We conduct swim assessments ahead of session start. If your athlete has documentation that they are able to meet the minimum swim level, or they have been cleared by an Exceleration coach, they will not need to attend.
Swim assessments are free, and are held at Templeton Park Pool.

About Yearly Registration
Our Yearly program is for committed athletes who will be attending practices multiple days weekly. It offers the opportunity to secure multiple sessions per week, for the entire year, at a deeply discounted rate.
